The clarification meeting for stakeholders by PPAT
The project aims to reduce violence within households by increasing men involvement in protecting and in changing attitudes and values regarding violence PPAT has conducted meeting which was part of the project “Raising awareness on Family Health”, which supported by Department of Health Service Support, Ministry of Public Health. and sexual abuse. Moreover, the project will encourage for behaviours/practices which are supporting safety family health and protecting women and children from any form of gender-based and domestic violence. The project is implemented in 4 communities and in 2 local administrations in Pathumthani Province from December 2009-November 2010.
This meeting was held at Rangsit Municipality Hall, Pathumthani Province on 24 February 2010. Mr. Veerapong Phitakpaiboonkij, Rangsit Municipality Deputy Mayor attended and gave the opening speech. Associated Professor Dr. Suvajee Good Deputy Director of PPAT and Ms. Pattaya Buranaprapa Acting Managing Director in Woman Issues attended the meeting. Ms. Pattaya gave a presentation on the project and on violence and sexual abuse toward women and children. Brainstorming session was also conducted among participants, results were later presented as suggestions for project implementations. PPAT has a deep concern on woman rights and child rights. PPAT has implemented projects on eliminating violence against women and children in Bang Sue District and Chatuchak District in Bangkok, and Muang District and Chonnabot District in Khon Kean Province from 2000-2002. Men’s attitude adjustments on gender equality and child rights issues would be a foundation of elimination of violence and woman and child sexual abuse.
